Emporia Community of Christ
A Journey of Faith and Resilience
Help Us to Grow This Ministry
Emporia Community of Christ began its journey meeting in the welcoming spaces of group members' homes. These gatherings were filled with fellowship, worship, and a shared mission to serve the community. However, like many other communities around the world, our in-person activities came to a halt due to the challenges posed by COVID-19.
In the face of this setback, we have demonstrated resilience and adaptability by transitioning some of our activities to digital platforms. Through social media and our website, we continue to connect with our friends and community and share the teachings and values that bind us together. While we currently do not have a physical church facility in the Emporia, KS area, our digital presence has enabled us to maintain our sense of community and purpose.
We remain committed to providing meaningful ministry to this community. While we have been able to shift some activities to a digital format, we recognize the importance of in-person ministry and would like to re-start this type of ministry. We are constantly seeking new ways to engage with the members of this community and provide meaningful ministry.
As we are looking to restart our in-person ministry, we will need some disciples who live in the Emporia KS area to help with this ministry. While we have several bi-vocational (volunteer) Community of Christ ministers working with this ministry, we currently do not have any “boots on the ground” in Emporia.
You're invited to join hands with the Community of Christ in planting a new church right here in Emporia, Kansas. This is more than just a call to worship; it's an invitation to become part of a movement that makes a real difference in people's lives.

Understanding the Vision
In Community of Christ you will discover your purpose and pursue Christ’s Mission of compassion, justice, and peace through ministries that can change your life, change your community and change the world.
Community of Christ believes in the importance of living out our faith through companionship with Jesus and with other disciples. We recognize that we are called to be a prophetic people, sharing the peace of Jesus Christ and creating communities that welcome all individuals, regardless of their background or circumstances.
To achieve this goal, we believe in the power of service to the world. By reaching out to those in need, we can foster renewed relationships with God and build a more just and equitable society. Communities with active and engaged church groups tend to experience higher levels of social cohesion and lower crime rates, illustrating the profound impact of such initiatives.

Why Your Involvement Matters
A church is not a building. It’s people!
Your involvement is crucial to the success of our mission. As a member of the Emporia community, you have a unique perspective and set of skills that can contribute to our growth. Together, we can create a welcoming space where everyone feels valued and empowered.
Recent studies highlight that communities with active church groups experience enhanced social networks, increased volunteerism, and improved mental health among members. This underscores the importance of coming together to support one another in both spiritual and practical ways.
